Stop At: Piazza Navona, 00186 Rome Italy

This tour follows the path leading for centuries pilgrims to S. Peter Basilica, starting from the Navona square, a roman stadium for athletics transformed into one of the most fascinating squares in the world.

Duration: 30 minutes

Pass By: Via dei Coronari, Rome Italy

You will follow along Via dei Coronari, now an exclusive street of antiquarians that still retains much of its old spirit, when crossed by the devotee on the way to St. Peter that could buy here holy images and rosaries, the “corone”.

Stop At: Chiesa di San Salvatore in Lauro, Piazza di San Salvatore in Lauro 15, 00186 Rome Italy

You will reach then the medieval district of St.Salvatore church, a majestic and almost unknown temple erected in the eleventh hundred and later transformed into one of the most magnificent examples of Renaissance architecture of the city.

Pass By: Ponte Sant'Angelo, Lungotevere Castello 50, 00193 Rome Italy

Crossing the ancient roman Aelian bridge decorated by elegant statues of angels conceived by Gian Lorenzo Bernini you will get to the breathtaking Mausoleum of emperor Hadrian (139 AD). The outstanding circular structure, once covered by wonderful gardens, dominates the area for miles and was later transformed into an enormous fortress dedicated to S. Michael, known as St. Angelo castle.

Stop At: Borgo, Via dei Corridori, Rome Italy

Following the line of the walls built by pope Leo IV in 850 AD the tour will end in the old “Borgo” area, the small fortified settlement built in the Dark Ages to protect the luxurious basilica of St. Peter from attacks. And there you will taste well deserved refreshments in an old traditional bar still showing the original 1910 furnishings!
