Explore the district of Trastevere. This is one of Rome’s oldest and better-preserved neighbourhoods. Here the alleyways, lanes, Churches, as well as the old traditional bakeries and shops are a pleasant and authentic experiences of Rome.

The Porticus Ottaviae, was from the 16th to the 19th Century, the Jewish Ghetto in Rome. This area had a concentrated history: from the ruins of Republican and Imperial Rome to the medieval constructions, from the Renaissance Ghetto to the constructions of the Synagogue, until the tragedy of the Nazi deportation.

The Theatre of Marcellus was once the largest and most important theatre in Rome with the iconic facades that influenced the Colosseum. Julius Caesar started the project, but it was not completed until the reign of Augustus who dedicated the building to his nephew Marcus Claudius Marcellus.
It was used to host plays, musical contests and poetry recitals, but with the increase of circuses and gladiatorial games the theatre fell into disuse.

One of the most charming passageways in Rome, the Portico of Ottavio was built in 146BC. It was part of the procession route that was taken by emperors in arms and the army to celebrate victories in battle. It was an impressive passageway, standing at 119 meters high and 132 meters long and was (possibly) clad in Marble. During the 13th Century, the Roman Jewish community moved into the area and in 1555, Pope Paul IV made it mandatory for Roman Jews to live in the area.
