You will admire absolute Beauty with the Altemps statuary collection, one of the finest galleries of Classical sculpture ever gathered now diplayed in a precious aristocratic residence whose architecture evolved from ancient roman to medieval and Renaissance times.

Stop At: Pantheon, Piazza della Rotonda, 00186 Rome Italy

Just a few steps away and you will be amazed by the impositive perfection of the Pantheon, the biggest dome ever built in the Antiquity.

Crossing the Argentina square you will reach a Republican sanctuary consisting of five temples dating to 200 BC and discovered only in the 1930s

Then you will follow to the Theatre of Marcellus. This is the only theatre of the ancient city still partially surviving: conceived by Julius Caesar and inaugurated by Augustus, it hosted 12,000 spectators.

The most important part of the tour is anyway at the end: the visit of the Crypta Balbi museum! A roman theatre built by Balbus in 13 BC, its structures were abandoned and plundered in the Dark Ages but the area was then resettled: were actors once performed, ironmongers and carpenters lived and worked by 1100 and later a convent covered the riuns preserving these many layers of history up to present days. Definitely one of the best and exclusive ways to understand Rome’s complexity!
