This tour begins with the guide meeting you at your town centre hotel.  Your licensed, local guide will then take you on a private tour through the streets and piazzas of Florence.  This customized tour takes you on a historical journey via the numerous historical landmarks that adorn this most beautiful of all Renaissance cities; Santa Croce Church, the Bargello Palace, Piazza della Republica to name a few.

Pass By: Piazza di Santa Croce 16 Piazza Santa Croce, 50122, Florence Italy

After meeting with your guide in Piazza Santa Croce, you begin the walking tour learning important facts about the wonderful Basilica.

Stop At: Ponte Vecchio, 50125, Florence Italy

You pass by the “Porcellino” (little pig) market on the way to the Ponte Vecchio, dating to the 1300s and one of the most recognized bridges in the world.The bridge affords a wonderful vista of the hills that surround Florence and your guide will tell you of the history of the bridge and how with the building of the Vasari Corridor there was a significant change to the many shops that line the bridge.

Stop At: Piazza della Signoria, 50122, Florence Italy

It is then on to what was the political centre of Renaissance Florence, Piazza della Signoria. The offices of the Grand Duke’s of Florence were once housed in the building that is now the Uffizi and  the seat of the Florentine government was on the opposite side of the square in the Palazzo Vecchio.

Then follows a stroll through the oldest part of the city to see the tower houses that date from the 1300s. Finally you reach Piazza Duomo where you can gaze upon Florence’s magnificent Cathedral with its striking green and white marble.  Crowned by Brunelleschi’s dome, a masterpiece of architectural achievement both for design and realization the cathedral and its dome are enduring symbols of Renaissance Florence. The visit ends before the Porta dei Paradiso, the wonderfully decorated doors of the Bapistery, alongside which there is Giotto’s famous Bell Tower.  We are sure you will enjoy this splendid walking tour of Florence and like many tourists before fall hopelessly in love with the city and its people.
