Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Isola Su Cardolinu, Italy

The ancient village of Chia, an important Phoenician and then Roman center named Bithia, was in a small cove where today there is one of the many coastal towers built in the seventeenth century by the Spanish crown against the incursions of the Barbary pirates. Among the ruins brought to light following a storm, there are the remains of a Punic Tophet and the ancient road that connected it to the important city of Nora. Today it is the destination for trekking and mountain bike enthusiasts who can travel the dirt road that runs along the old road, enjoying particularly fascinating coastal stretches.

From the tower, overlooking the coast, there is access to a long stretch of sand interspersed with small coves framed by dense vegetation and lapped by an emerald-green sea, a true spectacle of nature that remains forever in the hearts of any visitor.

Duration: 35 minutes

Stop At: Spiaggia di Cala Cipolla, Viale Spartivento, Chia, Domus de Maria, Sardinia Italy

A charming stretch of fine, golden sand, enclosed between two pink granite promontories that stretch towards the sea, forming a natural pool. Behind it, there are sand dunes with Mediterranean vegetation and a pine and juniper forest. Cala Cipolla has a distinctive appearance with solitary, wild nature: it is one of the most captivating beaches of the Chia area, in the territory of Domus de Maria, three-quarters of an hour from Cagliari. It is a little to the east of the promontory of Capo Spartivento, over which a lighthouse stands, accessible via a path, from which you can enjoy a view of the entire southwestern coast.
The splendid little cove is hidden between the hills and is characterized by a transparent sea, with iridescent colours that range from deep blue to green. The sandy seabed has shallow waters for several tens of metres from the shore, making it perfect for children. Every now and then, small rocks interrupt the uniformity of the waters. All around, the Mediterranean scrub frames the little cove. It is an ideal destination for surfers and it is popular with those who like underwater fishing and scuba diving. The car park is one hundred metres from the beach and there is also a kiosk-bar.

The fine, golden sand is typical of the entire Chia coast, which is one of the most popular tourist locations in Sardinia: over six kilometres of dreamy coves and beaches that you can admire from the 17th-century Aragonese tower. A promontory separates Cala Cipolla from Su Giudeu, a beach used in films and advertisements.

Stop At: Capo Spartivento, South Sardinia, Italy

Here you will admire the lighthouse of Capo Spartivento.
Built on a cliff overlooking the sea, the Lighthouse dominates Capo-Spartivento’s promontory, a protected nature reserve.
The space outside the Lighthouse is a rocky promontory that offers endless different viewpoints from where to enjoy the spectacular surroundings.
The Residenza Semaforisti opened its doors to its first guests in 2016.
The building, once the lighthouse keeper’s lodge, is the only military structure in Italy to have been converted into guest accommodation.
The holes of the machine gun bullets shot from the American planes during World War II can still be seen on its walls, testimony to the role the building played during the conflict.

Stop At: Cala Antoni Areddu, Teulada, Sardinia Italy

You will enjoy a real off-road on the trip to enjoy this amazing hidden cove.

Duration: 35 minutes

Stop At: Spiaggia di Tuerredda, Teulada, Sardinia Italy

The deep blue water, the green shrubs and delicate golden colour of the fine sand will make you fall in love with this natural marvel. In a cove between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento, in the territory of Teulada, on the outermost point of the southwestern part of the Island, Tuerredda stretches for over half a kilometre and is quite simply a jewel with scenery resembling that of the Caribbean.
It appears from above with its little island facing it, easy to reach by swimming, in a background often framed by sailing boats at anchor but that look like they are resting on the crystal clear water. The little island, just a few hundred metres from the shore, is a little world all on its own, in which you can spend a few hours lying on the stand or on the hot, smooth rocks.

Thanks to its shape, the beach is well sheltered from the Mistral, north-westerly wind and its sea is almost always calm and clear, perfect for long swims with a mask and flippers or for doing some snorkelling. The nearby coastline is a mixture of gentle and rugged stretches and there is a series of little beaches, separated by rocky belts. Enjoy the countless top-quality services offered by the beach establishments, canoe and pedalo rentals, trips in rubber dinghies, nearby bars and restaurants.

Duration: 35 minutes

Stop At: Malfatano beach, Teulada, Sardinia Italy

Along the Capo Malfatano stretch of coast, there is a combination of beaches with greyish sand, impervious cliffs and coves with amber-coloured sand, mixed with pebbles and rocks. The waters are shallow and transparent everywhere, with colours ranging from emerald green to turquoise. Of the beaches on the promontory, one very spectacular one that stands out is called Capo Malfatano, like the promontory, and it is situated between Tuerredda and Piscinnì.
It has medium-grain sand and pebbles, shallow waters and sandy seabed, as well as inlets with amber-coloured rocks. The waters are always calm and take on a light blue colour, which becomes a deeper blue as you move away from the shore. Not surprisingly, the bay, which is sheltered from the winds, was chosen as a landing place in the 6th century BC, first by the Phoenicians and then by the Punics. Today, you can still see the great blocks of sandstone that formed the docks of the flourishing port, now submerged by the sea, but which can be discovered using a mask and flippers at a depth of just a few metres, close to the shore. In the western part of the beach, there is a small beach establishment, from which boat trips set off along the whole coast.
Overlooking Capo Malfatano, there is a Spanish tower, behind which you will find a pond that makes the landscape even more evocative from the point of view of nature. From above, you will have a spectacular view of the nearby bays, particularly the little coves of Punta Tonnara to the west, which can be reached via a steep descent, towards the little island of Tuerredda and, in the distance, you can see the sea stacks of Capo Spartivento.

Stop At: Cala Porto Larboi, Domus de Maria, Sardinia Italy

It is a cove well sheltered from the wind, characterized by a beach of fine white sand: the beach of Porto Larboi borders on the municipality of Domus De Maria.
The Porto Larboi beach is surrounded by rocks and vegetation that play to alternate and then mix with one another. The green of the bush compared to the white of the beach creates a truly unique glance: if we add the amazing blue of the water we cannot but remain open-mouthed in front of such a suggestive landscape. Just like on land, even at sea, emerald green and turquoise alternate on the surface of the water that runs towards the horizon.
The medium-low depth is a mixture of sand and smooth pebbles. Right in front of this small stretch of coast, you can see a small promontory belonging to the nearby beach of su Portu 'e is frisas.
Since it is not very crowded, the beach of Porto Larboi is not as well equipped as other well-known bathing establishments in the area, so it is not less beautiful. Its strength lies in its wild and solitary aspect, ideal for those seeking silence and full contact with nature.
