Enjoy the unique mountain world of this former Olympic resort which includes the highest peak in Germany, the impressive walkable canyon "Partnachklamm", which can be reached from the ski stadium with the famous ski jumps, as well as sophisticated pedestrian zones, which invite you to a leisurely stroll. There is something for everyone at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, let this unique spot work its charm on you.

Stop At: Olympic Ski Jump, Karl-und Martin-Neuner-Platz, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany

Built during the Nazi dictatorship for the 1936 Winter Olympics and remodeled for the planned Winter Olympics in 1940, which failed due to World War II. For this purpose, the two communities Garmisch and Partenkirchen were forcibly merged.

Learn from your tour guide Stefan more about the darkest years 1933 - 1945, but also about the current use of the stadium and the ski jumps.

Please note that the Partnach Gorge can be temporarily closed due to maintenance work.

The Partnachklamm is a fascinating 700 meters (1/2 mile) long and up to 80 meters (260 feet) deep gorge, through which the meltwater of the Zugspitze Glacier rages. It is safe to walk on all year round and is an ideal destination for any weather!

From the car park to the entrance of the gorge you need 25 minutes on foot or in season by horse-drawn carriage (about € 20.00 for 4 people each way)

Take the ultramodern cable car or the cozy rack railway to Germany's highest mountain. Enjoy the magnificent 360° panorama and have fun in the snow all year round on this glacier.

From May 16th until October 4th 2020 the world famous Oberammergau Passion play takes here place.
With a capacity of 4.500 spectators this theater is the world's largest open air stage with covered auditorium!

Stop At: Schloss Linderhof, Linderhof 12, 82488 Ettal, Bavaria Germany

Only 15 minutes further along the road is Linderhof Castle, the smallest but most luxuriously adorned of the three fairytale castles of the Bavarian King Ludwig II. The 30-minute tour amongst all this splendor will take your breath away.

Stop At: Schloss Neuschwanstein, Neuschwansteinstrasse 20, 87645 Schwangau, Bavaria Germany

After another 50 minutes drive through Tyrolean territory along the breathtaking Plansee we reach the world-famous fairytale castle, Schloss Neuschwanstein. Let yourself be enchanted by the dream world of the equally creative and unhappy King Ludwig II and visit all completed rooms in a compact and compelling 35-minute tour.

You might want to extend your visit to Castle Hohenschwangau, the neo-Gothic summer residence of King Maximilian II, in which Ludwig II spent much of his childhood, which is close by. In less than an hour’s drive we reach the Bavarian capital, which is affectionately called "cosmopolitan city with heart".
Your tour guide Stefan, who has been living in Munich for over 25 years, will be delighted to introduce you to countless sights and their historical background.

Please plan at least 1.5 hours for a "best-of", though we recommend that you schedule at least 2.5 hours.

Even – or maybe especially – the darkest times in history provide many opportunities for learning, which is why the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial draws a steadily increasing stream of visitors from around the world.
On a 1 - 2.5-hour audio-guide tour, you will be informed about the atrocities of the Nazi regime. (Please note that you will not be accompanied by your guide Stefan during your visit to the memorial.)

This enchanting alpine town once hosted the important "Bolzano market", was and is the center of German violin making and will fascinate you with its wallpaintings and an overwhelming Rococo-church.

The provincial capital of Tyrol can be reached via charming mountain routes. Expect a medieval city center on the Inn Bridge, fantastic viewpoints and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, which are definitely worth seeing.

After a romantic cruise across the Chiemsee, the largest of the Bavarian lakes, you can visit the most ambitious project of the Bavarian King Ludwig II on the secluded Herreninsel: Had he not been restricted by budget issues, he would have built a copy of the Versailles Palace on this island. But even the middle section, only completed from the outside, will amaze you.
