Before 1933 Germany was at the forefront of industry, technical innovation and scientific discovery, with Einstein, Bismarck, Marx, Engels, Heine, Hegel, the Grimm brothers and many more all attending the Humboldt University and adding to the rich tapestry of education and enlightenment that was sadly burnt by the Nazis after they assumed power.
