Monasteries visit to the Red Sea - Hurghada

They visit the sacred part of the Red Sea.
True taste of history and religion. St. Anthony's Monastery (Deir Mar Antonio) and its neighbor St. Paulus is both a Coptic Christian and the oldest inhabited monastery in Egypt.
The Monastery of St. George Paulus probably dates from the fifth century and was founded in memory of one of the greatest saints of Egypt, who lived in a cave over which he was built for about eighty years. St. Antony's Monastery, located at the foot of Al-Qalatam hill near Al Zaafarana, was founded in 356 after the saint's death and is the oldest active convent in the world, the monastery's hermit founders in subdued colors and icons. There is also a library of over 1,700 handwritten manuscripts. If you are interested in Egypt's long Christian history, both monasteries are fascinating and inspiring, and the surrounding desert landscape is simply breathtaking.

Visit: St. Paul Monastery, طريق دير الانبا بولا، Ras Gharib, Red Sea Governorate, Egypt

The monastery of Saint Paul the Anchorite dates from the fourth century AD. It was founded over the cave where Saint Paul the Anchorite lived for more than eighty years. The first travel narrative of the monastery was provided by the Antoninus Martyrs from Plazentia, who visited the tomb of St Paul the Anchorite between 560 and 570 AD. The first monks to occupy the monastery were some of the disciples of Antony the Great, after they knew the story of Paul the Anchorite, who may have been occupied for a short time by Melkites, but Egyptian and Syrian monks followed again. It is possible that the Syrians had a permanent existence in the monastery, because it seems that they occupied the monastery in the first half of the 15th century, after which their presence disappeared. After an isolated Ethiopian mention, the 70th Coptic Orthodox Pope, Pope Gabriel II (1131-45 AD), was banished to the Monastery of St. Paul the Anchorite for three years
