Trakošćan castle lays on a hill surrounded by lake and park in forest. It surely seems like a one from the fairytales.
It dates from 13th century and has a long history since. Not only it stood as a military fortification but it also became a family heritage of several owners during 14th and 15th century. The last noble family who turned this castle into a residential major house was Drašković family. Today it is protected history entity turned into a museum.
Here You have an opportunity to take a walk through museum ( You can take a guidided tour which cost 200 kunas per group) and a walk around lake.

Krapina Neanderthal museum is one of the most modern Croatian museums located on the largest site of Neanderthal fossils.
In 1899 the famous Croatian archaeologist, Dragutin Gorjanovic -Kramberger found a couple of hundred fossil remains from Neanderthal period. The Krapina Neanderthal Museum has been attracting a significant attention from visitors all around the world. Findings collected here provide a better understanding of the development of a human civilisation from the ancient Stone Age. The whole structure of the museum building and its architecture is the reflection of the prehistoric man's lifestyle. The museum is equipped with contemporary multimedia contents that represent Neanderthal world very vividly. Travel back in time and explore this wonderful example of human work and life.
