Tastes of Western Balkans

This 14 day tour takes us through 6 different countries...countries in which we speak very similar languages and have mutual history during which we waged wars between us but also fought the same enemies. You will witness the influence of great empires that once ruled these lands: the Ancient Greek, Macedon and Roman Empire, the Byzantine, the Habsburg Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire, to the most recent birth and death of Yugoslavia. The mixture of nations from the first Illyrians to the arrival of the Southern Slavs and the continuous foreign conquest enriched the Western Balkans with a very diverse culture: national minorities with countless folk customs, different religion, traditional but also local food&drink, music and dance, dialect and languages... And during this exploration you will enjoy the nature scenery of the Balkan mountains, the Pannonian plains and the Adriatic coast. Enjoy your journey.

  Day 1, ZAGREB: D

The agency representative will meet&greet you. Evening tour of the center of Zagreb.

  Day 2, ZAGREB-SARAJEVO: B, L, D

Departure towards Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sightseeing tour of Sarajevo in the afternoon, followed by a traditional Bosnian dinner.

  Day 3, SARAJEVO-MOSTAR-BUDVA: B, L, D

Sightseeing of Mostar with lunch in the best local restaurant. After lunch we depart towards Budva (Montenegro). Leasure evening in Budva.

  Day 4, BUDVA-KOTOR-BUDVA: B, L, D

Excursion to Kotor. We'll take a boat ride to the Isle of The Lady of Skrpjel, followed by a guided tour of Kotor- UNESCO World Heritage city.

  Day 5, BUDVA-CETINJE-LOVCEN-BUDVA: B, L, D

Our excursion starts at Cetinje, and continues towards Lovcen mountain. On top of the most imposing peak sits the highest mausoleum in the world.

  Day 6, BUDVA-VIRPAZAR-SKHODER-TIRANA: B, L, D

The cruise on the largest Balkan lake includes a lunch with three types of fish. In the afternoon we continue to Shkoder and later towards Tirana.

  Day 7, TIRANA-KRUJE-TIRANA: B, L, D

Kruje excursion, to the hometown of Skenderbeg. Sightseeing and lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we return to Tirana for a guided tour.

  Day 8, TIRANA-OHRID-STRUGA–OHRID: B, L, D

We head towards Ohrid (Macedonia). We'll visit the nearby Biljana spring, contiunue to the village of Struga, and further to the etno village Vevcani.

  Day 9, OHRID-BITOLA- ST.NAUM–OHRID: B, L, D

Half-day excursion to Bitola and the nearby ancient town of Heraclea. In the afternoon we’ll take a boat excursion to the Monastery of St.Naum.

  Day 10, OHRID-DEBAR–SKOPJE: B, L, D

Along the way to Skopje we'll visit the 1000 yrs old Bigorski Monastery. We'll arrive to Skopje in the afternoon and enjoy the walking tour.

  Day 11, SKOPJE–BELGRADE: B, L, D

Lunch in Nis- the city with the best Serbian barbecue. Once in Belgrade it's a must to go out and explore the famous clubs and rafts. 

  Day 12, BELGRADE–NOVI SAD–OSIJEK: B, L, D

We start at the historic Petrovaradin fortress, followed by a tour of Novi Sad and lunch in one of the best restaurants in Serbia. After lunch we depart to Osijek (Croatia) where we'll enjoy the old city center.

  Day 13, OSIJEK-KOPACKI RIT–ZAGREB: B, L, D

Kopacki rit- the European Amazon, is a part of the Mura-Drava-Danube Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO protection. The park tour is followed by a traditional fish lunch. Leisure evening in Zagreb.

  Day 14, ZAGREB: B

And everything comes to an end. At the agreed time we will transfer you to the airport from where you will take a flight back home.
