You’ll be visiting over 15 locations and learning about the complete Colombian culture dating back centuries before the arrival of the Spanish.
You’ll be visiting 400-year-old towns, underground salt cathedrals, hidden lakes once full of gold, the cultural hubs of Bogotá, the oldest neighborhood of Bogota, the highest lookouts, amazing views, amazing scenery and SO MUCH MORE!!!

Itinerary

Day 1: Villa de Leyva

Stop At: Villa de Leyva, Boyaca, Colombia
You will begin with an early pickup from your Bogotá accommodation of 6 am when you’ll be collected in our comfortable vehicle and driven through the amazing landscape to the over 400-year-old town of Villa de Leyva. Here you will wander the cobblestone streets, taking photos of these beautiful stone buildings, fantastic wooden and stone fences, and awe-inspiring doors and gates, which you’ll think are straight out of the 1500s.

You’ll then enjoy a wonderful lunch in one of the many quality restaurants and cafes, before starting on your tours of the other attractions of this wonderful location; attractions such as the Monasterio Del Santo Eccehomo; Declared part of Colombia’s architectural heritage in 1998, the initial convent was founded in 1620. This is simply a beautiful monastery built on a hillside and consisting of a wonderful cloister, church, cemetery, and plaza, with wonderful views; the Terracotta House (Casa Terracota), the largest piece of pottery in the world; the Fossil Museum (Museo Fossil), with fossils of ancient dinosaurs that once ruled this land; and a winery, where you can try some of the finest wines Colombia has to offer.

After you have delighted in all that this zone has to offer you will begin the journey back to your Bogotá accommodation, where we expect the arrival of approximately 6 pm.

Day 2: Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Lake Guatavita

Stop At: Laguna de Guatavita, Km 15, Via Guatavita-Sesquile, Tierra Negra Colombia
You’ll be driven to the wonderful location of the Guatavita Reserve. Once here you’ll explore the paths that take you to this magical place, which is actually where the legend of El Dorado was born. Here you will enjoy the story of the history of this famous area, where the local indigenous would place gold into the lake for sacred ceremonies.

Next, you will enjoy the views of Guatavita town, filled with whitewashed buildings and tiled roofs. This town was actually moved in the ’70s to accommodate the construction of the huge Tomine Dam.

Stop At: Catedral de Sal de Zipaquira, Carrera 6 Calle 1 Parque De La Sal, Zipaquira Colombia
The next stop is the town of Zipaquira and the Salt Cathedral in the mountain overlooking this beautiful place. Here you will walk the streets and into this salt mine that was first used thousands of years earlier by the local Musicas Indians. You will wander into the caverns almost 600ft below ground, which has been carved from the salt in this mountain for centuries. You’ll love the serenity and peacefulness that comes with this amazing location, being underground with amazing crosses, paths, lights and a church that has over 3000 visitors every Sunday of the year.

To complete your journey you will be collected and driven back to your Bogotá accommodation with an expected arrival of approximately 5 pm.

Day 3: Monserrate and La Candelaria Tour

Stop At: Mount Monserrate, Carrera 2 E No. 21-48 Paseo Bolívar, Bogota Colombia
Today will start with a bit of a sleep-in after such a big first day; you will be collected at a respectful time of 9 am and driven to the base of Monserrate. Once here you’ll ascend to the summit, almost 2000 ft (600 m) above Bogotá, by using the funicular with its breathtaking views of Bogotá as you climb. Once you have reached the top you will have time to explore the 17th-century monastery, the artisan markets, and the wonderful views of Bogotá. After you have had your fill of culture and magnificent scenery you will descend down to the waiting city below, but this time using the teleferico (aerial tramway) for yet another perspective.

Stop At: Barrio La Candelaria, Calle 10 # 0 15 Bogota, Colombia Llegando por avenida circunvalar preferiblemente., Bogota 111711 Colombia
Next, you will make the short walk to La Candelaria and the next part of this all fascinating cultural experience. Once in this zone, you will start exploring the many streets, and ancient buildings, the graffiti and murals, the plazas and churches, and discover the history, culture and amazing charm of the oldest neighborhoods of Bogotá.

Stop At: Gold Museum (Museo del Oro), Carrera 6 No.15-88, Bogota 110321 Colombia
Explore 3 levels and over 55, 000 pieces of golden artifacts dating back thousands of years.
