Afternoon Sofia Walking Tour & Wine Experience

Spend the afternoon exploring the hidden and less known gems of the capital. Your tour leader will take you through narrow streets and charming neighborhoods while revealing the stories of the local people once living there. Special attention is put on the notorious architecture of the buildings that you are going to see. You will learn about the different periods of Sofia’s history and how each one of them reflected in the construction of the city through the years. On top of that, you will have the chance to taste some of the best wine selections produced in Bulgaria and to try some delicious local meze specialties.

After you meet your local leader in front of The Presidency, your afternoon urban adventure will begin with a visit to Sofia's hidden gem - St. George Rotonda Church. Take a glimpse inside the temple which represents the oldest still functioning Christian monument in Europe, where your guide, who is an art historian, will explain in detail the meaning and symbolism behind the unique wall frescoes. Enriching your knowledge further on the history of Sofia, we will travel back in time, passing through Roman ruins and Byzantine settlements. We continue our tour, stopping at major landmarks such as St. Aleksander Nevski’s Cathedral and The National Theatre.
