Itinerary

Day 1: Uyuni - Colchani - Incahuasi Island - Pia Pia Island - Sunset on the salar - Ajencha

Pass By: Salar de Uyuni, Uyuni Bolivia
We will leave Uyuni in the morning around 10 / 10.30 and the first visit to the train cemetery where you can see the old rusty trains for decades. After this we proceed to Colchani and testify how the salt is processed before arriving at the Salinas themselves and seeing the "Salt Eyes", where the water flows through the salt plains. We will see that the salt has been placed in piles ready to be transported, the original salt hotel (is no longer used for guests) and visit Inca Huasi (Fish Island) to see the giant cactus and have excellent views of the salt pans throughout . There will be plenty of time to take amazing photos before moving on to another island, Pia Pia Island, to watch the sunset and take some awesome photos before making our way to the salt hotel in the town of Ajencha for dinner and spend the night. In the establishment, there will be a telescope that can be used to do a little observation of the stars before going to bed.

Day 2: Ajencha - Galaxy and Devil's Caves - Lagoons - Laguna Colorada

Pass By: Die Laguna Colorada liegt nicht bei Potosi sondern einige 100 km entfernt, Potosi Bolivia
We woke up at 7 am and had breakfast before leaving to travel further south. First we will stop at a view on the Ollague volcano still active before moving towards the Galaxy and Cuevas del Diablo. The first is a fantasy rock that takes the visitor to another dimension. The rock formations are created when the salt mines were still a sea and the Thunupa volcano came into contact with the water about 225 million years ago.

They resemble the strange bones that hang from the ceiling and walls, forming extraordinary figures. The second cave, Cueva del Diablo, contains a cemetery (or chullpar) with human remains. It is a place of sacred burial surrounded by many myths. After the caves then we will continue with our unit through the Tres Lagunas route - cañapa, Hedionda and Chiarkhota, where you will be able to detect the first flamingos. The unit is through a desert area where the landscape will include a series of extinct volcanoes and rocky landscapes. In the afternoon we will reach the Siloli desert and the “rock tree”. Our final destination of the day is “Laguna Colorada”, an amazing red lake home of three species of flamingos. Not far from here we will find the night accommodation.

Then we start our trip back to Uyuni stopping on the road in a couple of cities like San Cristobal, where we will visit the local church and admire its very well preserved colonial paintings.
