It is an approximately 5km hike to the Phajoding with the trail following a ridge before climbing up another mountain. Needless to say, it affords a great view of the receding Thimphu city and valley.

20% of each tour is offered to the monastery for its renovation and for the basic comforts of the young monks there. You can carry along offerings in either cash or kind (new or used clothes, edibles, books, pens, pencils, storybooks et cetera).

Stop At: Phajoding Monastery, Phajoding-Pumola Trail Phajoding Bhutan

The destination is an ancient Buddhist monastery where young monks are initiated into the right ways of the Dharma.

Though ancient and holy, it is decrepit due to a lack of funds. Your contributions will give at least one young monk a warm blanket or another a pair of wollen socks or yet another a book and a pencil.
