Berat is one of the oldest towns in the region, founded back in the ancient ages. After some troublesome history and changes of the name the city was finally called “Beligrad” – “The White City” (the current name is just the derivative of it). It’s pretty obvious where it comes from as the Old Town of Berat is full of white houses, all of them facing the river. Beratis called also “the city of thousands windows”

After Berat it is time to go in Belsh where we are going to taste raki with saffron. It is an unique raki where we can find only in Belsh. This town is known also for 85 lakes. Belshi is like Toscana but in Albanian version

Onufri National Museum is located in the inner part of “Saint Mary Church” in Berat Castel. The Museum is called “Onufri”, in honor to the Albanian painting Headmaster of XVI Century. The Cathedral is rebuilt during the 1797, and it is the most representative monument of post Byzantine architecture in Berat town.
