The Spyware's Behavior
The spyware 'WhenU' is an adware component that displays advertisements that are targeted to you and are based on your Web browsing habits.The spyware files will be able to be detected as Adware under the file name WhenU.
WhenU's Adware is usually installed when you install other software, or when you visit some Web sites.
File names: Search.exe; Searchfallback.exe
Once the Spyware WhenU is executed
WhenU's spyware monitors your Web-browsing habits and the adware displays targeted advertisements when you go to Web pages that are relevant to the advertisement in question.WhenU Adware can update itself without your knowledge.
The apyware program must be manually installed, but there are several known programs that have the Adware WhenU within them and that install it as the application itself is installed.
Uninstalling the Adware WhenU
Do one of the following:On the Windows 98 taskbar:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Windows Me taskbar:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, click "...view all Control Panel options."
On the Windows 2000 taskbar:
By default, Windows 2000 is set up the same as Windows 98. In that case, follow the instructions for Windows 98. Otherwise, click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Windows XP taskbar:
Click Start > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Locate and click any of the following:
- WhenUSearch
- SaveNow, Save!
- WhenUShop
Scanning for and deleting the Spyware files
Run your free spyware scanner and make sure that it is configured to scan all files.Run a full system scan.
If any spyware files are detected as Adware under the file name WhenU, Delete them.
