Adware Searchexplorer

This spyware threat can be detected only by spyware scanning software that support expanded threats.
The Aware's Behavior
The Adware 'Searchexplorer' is an Internet Explorer toolbar. If you browse the Web when the toolbar is enabled, certain URL's can trigger the display of pop-up ads.Spyware files will be able to be detected as Adware under the filenam(s) Searchexplorer.
Active-X downloads can install this adware without your knowledge. Some will be in pop-up ads from Adpowerzone.com.
File names: Explbar.dll
Adware 'Searchexplorer' adds various Internet Explorer buttons and a search field named "Searching-4U".
When specific keywords are searched for in the Searching-4U field, various advertisements will appear on your system. The spyware can track various browsing habits. The adware also has a possible silent update feature.
When Searchexplorer's Adware is installed, it does the following:
Creates the folder named C:\Program Files\Search-Explorer, and then adds the Explbar.dll file to that folder.
Creates the folder, C:\Program Files\Searching-4U, which contains the End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Uninstall.exe file.
Adds the registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\
SearchExplorer.SearchExplorerObj1
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\
Software\Searching-4U

*Run a full system spyware scan and delete all spyware files detected as Adware under the filename(s) Searchexplorer.
Delete the spyware values that were added to the registry.
Uninstalling the Adware
Do one of the following:On the Windows 98 taskbar:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Windows Me taskbar:
Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, click "...view all Control Panel options."
On the Windows 2000 taskbar:
By default, Windows 2000 is set up the same as Windows 98. In that case, follow the instructions for Windows 98. Otherwise, click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Windows XP taskbar:
Click Start > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Click "Toolbar - Searching-4U."
Click Add/Remove, Change/Remove, or Remove. Follow the prompts to remove as much as the spyware as possible.
Repeat for "Searching-4U."
Scanning for and deleting the Spyware and Adware files
Run your free spyware scanner and make sure that it is configured to scan all files.Run a full system scan.
If any files are detected as spyware infected with the Adware 'Searchexplorer', Delete them.
Deleting the Spyware values from the Registry
Deleting the Spyware values from the Registry is done to make sure that all the keys are removed. The keys may not be there if the uninstaller removed them properly already.Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.)
Type regedit
Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
Navigate to and delete the keys:
