The Aware's Behavior
Adware 'Savenow' is an adware program that downloads and displays advertisements.Spyware files should be able to be detected as Adware under the filename(s) Savenow.
This adware or spyware program must be manually installed, but there an be several known programs that have Savenow's Adware within them and that install the spyware as the program itself is installed. In all such cases, the fact that Adware 'Savenow' will be installed has been made clear in the End-User License Agreement (EULA).
File names: Save.exe
The Adware Savenow is an adware or spyware program used to display advertisements. When this adware is executed, it does the following:
Creates the following monitoring files in the C:\Program Files\Save folder:
- Save.exe
- Save.html
- Readme.txt
- SaveUninst.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WhenUSave
HKCR\WUSN.1
Other spyware application programs most often install Adware 'Savenow'.
When Savenow's Adware is launched after installation, it contacts a server at whenu.com and downloads and displays advertisements.
The spyware tracks Internet browsing habits, but the collected information is not submitted to a server. It is only stored locally on the system, and is used to determine which advertisements should be displayed.
*Run a full system spyware scan and delete all the files detected as Adware under the filename(s) Savenow.
Uninstalling the Adware
Using Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Save.In the right pane, double-click SaveUninst.exe.
Follow any prompts.
Scanning for and deleting the Spyware and Adware files
The adware or your PC's uninstaller should be able to remove all the files. To be absolutely sure, run a full system spyware scan.Run your free spyware scanner and make sure that it is configured to scan all the files.
Run a full system scan.
If any files are detected as spyware infected with Savenow's Adware, Delete them.
