The Spyware's BehaviorSpyware Flashtrack includes an adware program that displays advertisements in pop-up windows. It works as a Browser Helper Object.The spyware files will be able to be detected as Adware under the file name(s) Flashtrack. This adware program must be manually installed. There are several known spyware programs that have Adware 'Flashtrack' within them and that install it as the program itself is installed. When installing this adware by itself, information is not displayed on your screen. File names: Flt.dll Spyware 'Flashtrack' tracks Internet usage habits. When certain keywords are typed inside Internet Explorer or in certain Web pages, the adware component will display an advertisement in a pop-up window. Flashtrack's spyware runs as a Browser Helper Object. This means that the adware component will receive information regarding all the actions inside Internet Explorer. Browser Helper Objects require Internet Explorer 4 or later to function. Flashtrack's Spyware does the following:Creates the folder, C:\Program Files\Flt.Creates two files inside the C:\Program Files\Flt folder; that is, Flt.dll and Flt.mon. Creates many spyware entries in the Windows registry. The spyware component will submit Internet usage habits to the server, ipinsight.com. This also appears to be the server from which Adware 'Flashtrack' will receive advertisements to display in pop-up windows. *Try Uninstalling FT Remove using your Add/Remove Programs utility. *Make sure you run a full system spyware scan and delete all the spyware files detected as Adware under the file name Flashtrack. Delete the Flt.mon folder if needed. Delete the spyware value that was added to the registry. Unistalling the SpywareDo one of the following:On the Windows 98 taskbar: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs. On the Windows Me taskbar: Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs. If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, click "...view all Control Panel options." On the Windows 2000 taskbar: By default, Windows 2000 is set up the same as Windows 98. In that case, follow the instructions for Windows 98. Otherwise, click Start, point to Settings, point to Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs. On the Windows XP taskbar: Click Start > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add or Remove Programs. Click FT Remove Click Add/Remove, Change/Remove, or Remove (this varies with the operating system). Follow the prompts. Scanning for and Deleting the Spyware filesRun your free Spyware Scanner program and make sure that it is configured to scan all files.Run a full system spyware scan. If any spyware files are detected as being infected with Adware Flashtrack, click Delete. Using Windows Explorer, browse to and open the C:\Program Files\Flt folder. If it is empty, or if it contains only the Flt.mon file, delete the folder; Otherwise, verify that this folder only contains files that belong to Adware Flashtrack. If you are not sure what to do, do not remove this folder. Deleting the Spyware value from the RegistryThis is done to make sure that all the spyware keys are removed. They may not be there if the uninstaller removed them.Click Start, and then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.) Type regedit Then click OK. (The Registry Editor opens.)
